Norton Password Manager 2004

Release Date: February 16, 2004.
Norton Password Manager is a useful and reliable software solution meant to cater to users’ everyday needs for security and protection in the online environment, targeting mainly individuals who have numerous passwords and a tough time remembering them.

The program acts as a vault, by keeping website usernames, passwords, credit card information and other similar details in a single location, which is itself secured by means of a user-defined master access key.

The first time it is run, Norton Password Manager will prompt its users to set up a profile, in which they will need to input their profile name, country, passcode and optionally a hint to remember it.

Moreover, users will be able to enter their full name, home and work address, credit card data, then set the preferred security level. Users can opt for ‘Low’, ‘Medium’ or ‘High’, the difference being the frequency with which they will be asked to confirm their identity by supplying the master password.

For the ‘Low’ level, users will only be prompted once, whereas the ‘Medium’ level enables them to configure the preferred timeout period - in minutes, after which they will need to enter the access code. The ‘High’ level will require users to confirm their identity for almost all operations. At the same time, Norton Password Manager allows users to set the current profile as default, which will result in never being prompted for the pass key.

Furthermore, Norton Password Manager features a ‘Form Assistant’ tool that enables users to add information required to fill in web forms, saving it for an ulterior occasion, so as to spare users from having to repeatedly type the same details, when they can just drag and drop the data into the proper fields.
